K-OTIC Interview IRepUanimage

@xOitsFay over IRepUAN.com recently interviewed and featured Miami, Florida's own @itsKOTIC. Below is an excerpt of the interview.

What made you want to become an artist?

Just the love of Hip Hop. I grew up in the 90′s, the golden era of Hip Hop. A time where lyrics and originality was what separated good artist to great artist. I grew up off 2Pac and Biggie, Outkast and Nas. Artist like those. It is why I take pride in my lyrics when i drop a record. I need to make sure my world play, my flow, and my bars are up to par to spar with anybody past, present, or future on any type of beat. Hip Hop brings out a competitive nature in me that nothing else does.

Tell us about who you are!

K-OTIC is a hard working producer and artist out of Miami, Fl. I am someone who prides himself in any and every project or song that he’s apart of. My approach is quality music is a million times more important than the quantity of music he releases. In addition to being an artist and a producer, I’m also a graphic designer, website & blogsite creater, and online promoter. I understand the importance of grinding and learning how to market myself from the ground up as more than just an artist or a producer, but as a brand.

What can people expect from your current projects?

You can expect great music. My music is not a carbon copy of the majors. I’m not trying to make songs that sound like anybody else. My music is very southern and very electronic. Being that I also produce music, I’m in charge of my music from the ground up. Expect great production with great lyrical ability. Expect something fresh to the ear and not your everyday sound.

Any big projects coming up?

I work with several artist world wide. Usually on the production tip. Some big projects I am apart of whether its on the production tip or as an artist is Money Mark Diggla’s Good Green, Fast Cars, and Plenty Money upcoming album, Young Dominus’ Mictropolis and Louie Lio’s A Journey 2 A Higher Power vol. 1. I’m also currently working on my next LP scheduled for the 1st quarter 2014.

Who do you hope to work with in the next 5 years?

Within the next 5 years I hope to work with any and every artist who is serious about music and making music. Whether your a major or indie or underground lets work. Im real humble amd real appreciative for this gift of making music and for me a great record is a great record as long as it is pushed right and sounds great. So I cant sit here and pinpoint certain artist to work with because there are alot of great artist out here that are great at the kind of music that they do.

What is your opinion on mainstream hip hop today?

Great question. Mainstream Hip Hop today is as healthy as it has ever been. Artist are more successful than they have ever been because they are truly in charge of their own careers. Even though record sales have dropped, mainstream hip hop as expanded into more than just rap. Artist are creating different avenues and taking advantage of eveyrthing thats opening up. Musically I feel Hip Hop can improve from the standpoint of originality and diversity but in my opinion that blame goes more on the radio. I do understand that radio’s job is to satisfy advertisers so I simply don’t listen to the radio. Between Youtube and Spotify, there’s a lot of great mainstream hip hop out there, I simply take the time to look for it. To me I can listen to Rick Ross and J Cole back to back. I’m just a fan of music so I love mainstream Hip Hop. I love what it is becoming because it give’s every artist the opportunity to make a decent living, control their own music, and handle their own career the way they see fit.

Shoutouts!!

I would like to shout out God first, family second, and all of my friends and supporters and fans third. Special shouts out to Faymis for interviewing me, I’m real appreciative. Shouts out Esco from Esco Records, Kino and Don Pini and the whole team down in Columbia. One love to Johnny Black, one of the most talented artist I’ve ever worked with, and a special shout out to Money Mark Diggla, I grew up listening to some of his music and for him to work with me has been a blessing. Shouts out Louie Lio, Juvey Ficcial, Miles AMill, Young Dominus, Kodeem from Yawdstyle, Chevy Ced from Hevy Traffick and everybody else I’ve worked with in the past, present or will work with in the future.
